Goals

Master Curatorship and Art Criticism provides the tools to curate, design, set up, organize, and critique physical, digital, and phygital art exhibitions and events. Il programma è ideato per consentire di osservare e analizzare criticamente la produzione estetica e di evaluate works of art and artists based on in-depth knowledge of the history and world of art; you will also acquire managerial skills and abilities necessary for the economic and financial management of exhibitions.

The Master's course is ideal for curators, art historians and critics, curatorial assistants, production assistants, architects, exhibition project managers, exhibition directors, designers, gallery owners, exhibition operators, employees of museums, art galleries, exhibition service companies, contemporary art associations and centers, cultural foundations, freelancers working in the exhibition sector as well as all those who, in various capacities, are interested in curatorial practice.

Program

The Master of Art Curatorship and Criticism program is developed into 7 non-consecutive weekends (Friday afternoon and Saturday all day) and addresses the following topics:

  • The role of a curator: permanent curatorship/temporary exhibition, independent curatorship
  • Solo, group, temporary, traveling, online, phygital exhibition
  • The stages of planning and organizing an exhibition
  • Curatorial methodology and practice
  • Proposal management
  • Art criticism as a pivotal element of curating: needs, modes, audiences
  • Contemporary art production between criticism and provocation
  • Art Criticism Today: magazines and platforms for Contemporary Art
